How to Find the Best Publishing Platforms
There are several popular platforms where you can publish and gain exposure as a writer. Here are a few of the best platforms I’ve used :
- Medium: Medium is a popular blogging platform that allows you to publish your short stories and reach a large audience. It has a user-friendly interface and offers the opportunity for your stories to be discovered by readers interested in various topics.
- Wattpad: a community-driven platform focused on storytelling. It has a large and dedicated user base, offering a great opportunity to connect with readers and receive feedback on your short stories. Wattpad also provides opportunities to interact with other writers and participate in writing contests.
- Submittable: Submittable is a platform specifically designed for writers to submit their work to literary magazines, anthologies, and contests. It provides a comprehensive database of literary opportunities and allows you to track the progress of your submissions.
- Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP): If you’re interested in self-publishing your short stories as e-books, Amazon KDP is a popular platform. It allows you to publish your work as a Kindle e-book and make it available to millions of readers worldwide.
- Literary Magazines: There are numerous literary magazines, both online and in print, that accept short story submissions. These magazines often have a specific theme or focus and can provide excellent exposure for your work. Some examples include The New Yorker, Granta, Verso.pub, and One Story.
Remember that the best platform for you will depend on your goals and the type of readership you want to reach. It’s a good idea to research each platform, understand their features and target audience, and choose the one that aligns best with your writing style and goals.
